Cookies
Short version: only the ones the site cannot work without.
This site uses only strictly necessary cookies — the ones that keep your session working, protect forms, and tell real visitors from bots. There is no advertising, no profiling and no cross-site tracking.
Why there is no cookie banner
Consent is required for cookies that are not essential: analytics that identify you, advertising, anything that follows you between sites. It is not required for cookies a site cannot function or stay secure without, which is the strictly necessary exemption in regulation 6(4) of the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations.
Everything in the table below falls into that category, including the cookies set by the hosting platform and its network. So there is nothing here to opt into, and asking you to click a banner would be theatre rather than a choice.
If that ever changes — if analytics or anything else that tracks you is added — consent will be asked for properly, before it is switched on, and this page will say so.
What is set
| Cookie | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|
| Session | Keeps your session consistent across pages and secures form submissions. | 2 hours |
| CSRF token | Protects forms from cross-site request forgery. | 2 hours |
| Hosting and security | Set by the hosting platform and its network to keep requests on the right server and to tell real visitors from automated traffic. Not set by this site, and not used to identify or profile you. | Up to 2 hours |
Analytics
Any analytics used on this site are cookieless. They count page views in aggregate and do not store anything on your device or identify you.
Light and dark mode
Your choice of light or dark is remembered in your browser's local storage rather than in a cookie. It never leaves your device and is not sent to the site.
Turning cookies off
You can block cookies in your browser settings. Reading the site will still work; submitting a form will not.
