What this site collects, why, and what happens to it.

This is a personal website. It collects as little as it can get away with, and nothing is sold or shared for advertising.

What is collected

Three things, all of which you choose to give:

  • Newsletter subscriptions. Your email address, the date you consented, and the page you subscribed from. Held until you unsubscribe.
  • Contact enquiries. Your name, email address, optional company and your message, plus the IP address the message was sent from as a spam safeguard.
  • Analytics. If enabled, aggregate page view statistics with no cookies and no personal identifiers.

Cookies

The site sets a session cookie and a security token when you submit a form. Both are strictly necessary for the site to work and are not used to track you. There is no advertising or cross-site tracking, which is why you are not being asked to dismiss a consent banner. See the cookie notice for detail.

Analytics

Where analytics are used, they are privacy-conscious and cookieless — measuring how many people read a page, not who they are.

How long things are kept

Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Enquiries are kept while the conversation is live and for a reasonable period afterwards.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of anything held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email [email protected] and it will be dealt with.

Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, which takes effect immediately and does not require a reply.

Questions about any of this go to [email protected].
